- 1 bagel plain, sesame, or your favorite variety
- 1 small steak around 4 oz, such as sirloin or ribeye
- 1 large egg
- 1 slice of cheese American, cheddar, or Swiss
- 1 tablespoon butter or oil for cooking
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder optional, for steak seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika optional, for steak seasoning
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise or sauce of choice optional, for spreading on the bagel
Prepare the Steak:
Season the steak with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Heat 1/2 tablespoon butter or oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook the steak for 3-4 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes, then slice thinly.
Cook the Egg:
In the same pan, add a little more butter or oil if needed. Crack the egg into the pan and cook to your liking (sunny-side up, over-easy, or scrambled). Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Assemble the Sandwich:
Spread mayonnaise or your preferred sauce on one or both sides of the toasted bagel. Layer the steak slices on the bottom half, then place the fried egg on top. Add the slice of cheese over the egg, and top with the other half of the bagel.
